The Big W

I wrote a song. Created the music, too. My son did final production and the vocals, but everything else is me, baby!

I only wrote the song because “if you guys can do this, so can I!” Nice burst of creativity last week. I hope I didn’t peak.

Also, I submitted this under the band name “Just Ducky”. I had reasons, not good ones, but reasons.

The Big W

Songwriting challenge: write a song about a specific scene in a book or movie. You should be able to figure it out.

I Decided on my Grandma Name!

I don’t plan to be a grandmother for quite a while, but at an MLM shampoo party tonight,  I learned my friend’s sister-in-law is called “Bamma” by her grandkids and holy hell if that isn’t the best Grandma name ever! So I’m writing this here so I can find it later. My grandchild, who I assume will be a boy (because it’s like when you get a dog, whatever gender the dog is, you assume all dogs are that gender) is going to call me “Bamma Jody”. And we can all sing “She’s a Bad Mamma Jamma” at every family gathering. I’m going to totally rock my new name!

Not a Newbie Any More

I just hit the one-year anniversary of my podcast, Adventures in Jodysitting, and I’m shocked.. SHOCKED… that I didn’t give up on it the way I have so many other things. Now if only the 11 listeners could each pony up a hundred thousand dollars, we’d be talking wild success.

If you haven’t listened to the podcast recently, or at all, I think episodes 26 and 27 are pretty good. If you listen to them, the numbers will bump up, and I will be a happy girl. I mean, it’s up to you, but don’t you like happy girls?

Wigging Out

I own 6 wigs. Two of them are in transit. This is what happens when you agree to cosplay as a 1960s TV icon and can’t quite find the perfect wig. The cosplaying happens SOON™️ so I’m just going to have to settle.

I will probably donate three of the wigs to some theater company, if they want them. 3 I’m keeping because they are fun. You know me, I love to have fun. I just don’t know if I have the self confidence to have fun in a rainbow wig.

Merry December 25th

It’s been a full year, eh? If you still have a burning need to keep watching Christmas programs and you have Prime, I suggest two of the shows I watched today.

  • Tudor Monastery Farm at Christmas – I love documentaries, especially those explaining what normal life was like for our ancestors. Or other people’s ancestors. The part of the show that makes this a more atypical holiday show is the amount of time spent covering butchering a pig and cleaning and pickling the head.
  • Winter Wonderland Train Ride – The “story” is that your train has to deliver ham, wine, bread and toys to some location, maybe on a mountain? In a snowy place. This is a 4 hour video (!) of the view from the point of view of the engineer. Nondescript Christmas carols play along for the full, nearly-endless 4 hours of endless video following track wending through the snow-covered countryside.

I could lie and say we watched all four hours of the train video, but fast-forwarding was our friend, and the 15-20 we did watch was just enough. Also, we’re entirely unsure why they needed the ham/wine/bread/toys backstory as not once did you ever “drop it off”. We did pick up passengers with suitcases. Unsure if the suitcases contained hams.
